Make Use of Local Resources

Each state, county, and city offers a wealth of search resources including:

public records available online or for a fee,
offline and online support groups, and
courts which may be a source of accessible records.

Each state also has laws regarding access to adoption records as well as to non-identifying (non-ID) and identifying information about the parties to an adoption. In addition to these resources for U.S. adoptions, resources are available to assist searches connected to adoptions finalized in Canada and the UK.
